Advancements in technology will lead to a complete overhaul of the working day, with standard nine until five office hours becoming a thing of the past. According to a study by Office Angels, employees in the UK will soon have to work through the night in order to contact firms from other global markets via videoconferencing or other means.

Almost two-thirds of survey respondents said working hours are becoming far more flexible, while three-quarters stated a lot more people will use cloud computing solutions to allow them to work from home within the next 25 years. "Standard working hours are already dying out, with many employers expecting staff to be 'online' and available outside of standard office hours," commented Office Angels managing director David Clubb.

The government has recently backed a scheme called Anywhere Working, which will see a number of high profile organisations such as Microsoft encourage companies to adopt new technology that is conducive to remote working
