Employees can refocus efforts to boost their productivity by taking up remote working practices, according to an expert.
Nick Keene, the manager of Citrix Systems' South African operations, has claimed that workers tend to become more concerned with objectives and performance rather than "time and attendance management".

In an interview with Times Live, he explained that businesses should not focus on "fishbowl-style" management which would see staff encouraged to come into the office, despite it impacting on their performance.
"This is related to the management style of organisations and the lack of infrastructure," he outlined.
"[Flexibility] has business benefits: employees feel empowered and reduced stress, and this spins into increased productivity."

Recent research published by the Federation of Small Businesses revealed that 42 per cent of firms introduced flexible working policies in order to counter the effects of the recent severe weather experienced across the UK.
The body also called for the creation of a new conference which would support business continuity.
