O2 'ramps up mobile working offering'

Network operator O2 has launched a new mobile working service aimed at boosting flexibility at small and medium-sized enterprises. The service includes help for businesses tasked with the management of cultural change during the adoption of flexible IT infrastructure. O2 hopes its Joined Up People offering will change the way that UK organisations do business.

O2 will also attempt to address the problems of security and mobile device management. Part of the initiative will revolve around staff training for mobile technology adopters and increased productivity and flexibility will be at the services' core.

David Plumb, O2's general manager for enterprise, said: "For growing numbers of employees, work is something they do rather than a place they go." He added that workplace mobile devices can have a huge array of benefits, but organisations are concerned about the integration of personal smartphones and tablets.

Recently, Berwin Leighton Paisner IT director Janet Day told Legal Week that mobile device security was a top priority for law firms adopting flexible working practices.
