IT staff who work for Hampshire Fire and Rescue have introduced new software which will allow the team to embrace remote working.

The body is using Hornbill's Supportworks Essentials platform to both set and meet service level agreements, as well as provide improved customer service and promote flexible working policies that will support business continuity.

Gill Slipper, support desk manager at Hampshire Fire and Rescue, said the technology was compatible with all of the criteria the organisation has in place for technical support tools.

She added: "It is easy to use and configure, enabling us to quickly be up and running. It also provides us with an upgrade path to moving to the full ITIL-compatible system in the future."

Utility firm Severn Trent Water recently confirmed to V3.co.uk that it has enlisted the help of Computacenter to introduce a new operating system supported by desktop virtualisation which will allow staff to enjoy home working.
