The growth in business connectivity was strong during the first six months of 2010, it has been claimed.
According to new research conducted by the Vertical Systems Group, technologies such as Ethernet first mile and dedicated access technologies performed well.
Rick Malone, principal at Vertical Systems Group, told Ethernet Academy: "Market activity was characterised by more widespread use of copper-based Ethernet solutions for pan-European networks, as well as by expanded delivery of inter-country private lines in Asia."
Mr Malone also highlighted the huge geographical area that such technologies were now straddling.
"Ethernet services are now able to link multinational enterprise sites in up to six continents," he added.
According to VSG's Mid-2010 Global Provider Ethernet report, regional Ethernet point-to-point markets are expected to achieve double-digit growth during 2010.
The firm also suggested that multinational cooperation between firms with Ethernet technology will increase, boosting the number of low latency connections.
Recently, Nick Jenner, head of IT at FirstAssist Insurance Services, claimed that Ethernet point to point technology had transformed their business operation.
