Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) considering updating their telepresence technology to a cloud-based video conferencing solution have been advised to ensure that their chosen system will work well even with a poor network connection.

Speaking to TMCnet, principal analyst at VoIP Evolution Robert Poe observed that many SMBs are looking for "enterprise-class communication capabilities".

However, the expert observed that when opting for a cloud-based video conferencing solution, it is important to assess the different providers carefully before making a decision.

One of the features firms should look for, he said, was the ability to work effectively regardless of the quality of the network connection.

"To be truly useful, cloud-based video conferencing solutions have to perform well even over unreliable network connections and offer sophisticated collaboration tools in addition to video conferencing," Mr Poe asserted.

Organisations considering implementing video conferencing technology were recently advised by Wainhouse Research analyst and senior partner Andrew Davis to clearly identify their goals first, reported SearchCIO-Midmarket.com.
