Remote working policies can offer benefits to both employees and their workforce, according to an expert.

Mark Dixon, chief executive officer of Regus Group, said such strategies can cut workspace costs for businesses, while also reducing travel time for their members of staff.

Writing for HR Magazine, he said that employees also have the opportunity to "manage the conflict between work and family".

"Digital technology has given us a wonderful means to break the link between time and place," he explained.

"You can work anywhere there's a table for your laptop and a link to the internet. And that includes home."

Michael Robertson, managing director of Commerce Media, recently outlined in a column for Fresh Business Thinking that research has shown remote and mobile working policies can boost the physical and mental health of staff.

He added that firms need to have suitable security provisions in place when using such policies.
